Monobina Gupta is a journalist and author based in Delhi. She has written and edited for the Times of India, the Economic Times, the Calcutta Telegraph, the New York Times and many others. Her books, Didi: A Political Biography and Left Politics in Bengal: Time Travels among Bhadralok Marxists, have examined the fortunes of the left in Bengal as well as the rise of Mamata Banerjee, the powerful female leader who brought down a long-ruling communist government there.
