on the west coast
still
the eggs are sunny side up and
first forsythia brightens the table
last night’s tiff
is forgotten as freshly made
granola
perfumes the table and honesty
glistens in a pewter vase
porridge
in pottery bowls and
a jar of maple syrup
as we watch the first hummingbird
sample its sugar water…
