Olive Senior

Olive Senior is the author of nine books of poetry, fiction and nonfiction. Over the Roofs of the World was nominated for the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry 2005. Gardening in the Tropics is a winner of the F.J. Bressani Literary Prize. Her works of fiction include Summer Lightning (winner of the commonwealth Writers Prize), Arrival of the Snake-Woman and Discerner of Hearts. Now a resident of Toronto, Olive Senior was born in Jamaica and was recently awarded the Gold Medal of the Institute of Jamaica for her contribution to Jamaican arts and letters.
